A plane crashed at an airport near the Manatee-Hillsborough County line on Tuesday.
The small plane crashed at Airport Manatee around 10 a.m., according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Aerial footage from Eagle 8 HD showed that the plane hit a pickup truck parked at the airport.
A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the crash happened as the plane was taking off. It veered off course, clipped a power line and crashed into the unoccupied truck, according to the MCSO
Two people were on board the Aeronca Champion. The 70-year-old pilot, JS, was found with injuries in the front seat of the plane. His 86-year-old passenger, AM, was also hurt and managed to climb out of the plane.
Both men were airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
