2 injured, including deputy in Alligator Drive structure fire, ongoing investigation

Two men are injured, including a deputy, following a structure fire on Alligator Drive, according to Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Smith.

The Alligator Point St. Teresa Volunteer Fire Department said crews responded to the structure fire early Sunday morning.

A man living inside the home was taken to the hospital following the fire and Smith says one of his deputies was also injured.

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Criminal Investigations Division and Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations are investigating the incident.

Volunteer firefighters responded with assistance from law enforcement, EMS and other public safety officers.

Authorities say the cause of the fire remains unclear as the house had no electricity.
