2 men displaced after apartment fire in Miami

MIAMI — Two men were displaced after a fire erupted inside of an apartment unit in Miami, firefighters confirmed.

According to Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Pete Sanchez, the fire was reported at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Northwest 29th Street.

Sanchez said conditions inside the building deteriorated within about 10 minutes, at which time command staff ordered all crews to evacuate the building, transitioning operations to a “defensive strategy.”

“Ladder trucks then directed large volumes of water from above the structure to contain and extinguish the fire,” Sanchez said. “The fire was brought under control within two hours and no injuries were reported.”

Sanchez confirmed no one was home at the time of the fire, but two men have now been displaced.

The Miami Fire Investigation Unit will determine the origin and cause of the fire.
