2 people in the hospital after 2-vehicle crash near Newberry

Alachua County and Newberry Fire Rescue, along with Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol, responded to a crash on State Road 26.

Fire rescue crews responded to a two-vehicle crash just east of the city of Newberry around 11:30 Thursday night.

The first crew that arrived reported significant damage to both vehicles, and crews believe it was a head-on collision.

Both drivers needed to be extricated, and crews used the jaws of life to rescue them.

Both drivers in the crash were taken a local trauma center by Alachua county Fire Rescue.
