Two people were seriously injured Wednesday in a crash involving an overturned camper on I-95 South in Nassau County, near the Duval County line.
According to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, a truck pulling a camper flipped over the bridge near Mile Marker 370.
FHP said the truck hydroplaned, causing it to drive off the road. Both the truck and trailer overturned on the shore of the river, under the overpass, FHP said, and the trailer broke apart due to a collision with the side of the overpass.
FHP said the driver, a 65-year-old man, and the passenger, a 66-year-old woman, were both from Savannah. They were both taken to UF Health Jacksonville.
The Sheriff’s Office, fire rescue, and FHP responded to the scene.
As of 1:55 p.m., traffic was blocked all the way to State Road 200.
As of 2:50 p.m., one lane of traffic was getting by the crash.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
