2 seriously injured in crash involving armored truck on I-95 south in St. Johns County

Two people were seriously injured in a crash Friday in St. Johns County on Interstate 95 near mile marker 299, just before the Dixie Highway exit, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.

The crash, which involved a Brinks armored truck, shut down the right southbound lane around 3:08 p.m.

As of 6:50 p.m., all lanes were back open, but the Florida Highway Patrol remained on the scene.

SJFR told News4JAX it appears that some cash may have spilled from the truck. We’re working to get more information from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol.

A spokesperson with Brinks declined to comment on the incident and referred us to law enforcement for any further information.

The two injured were taken to the hospital.
