Two teens were arrested after a shooting in Frostproof killed a 22-year-old man, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to the scene on Washington Terrace in Frostproof at 5:08 p.m. Sunday.
During an investigation, deputies learned that a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old spoke with the 22-year-old on an app to buy marijuana.
Sheriff GJ said the 22-year-old arrived at the home and the two teens talked with him for a couple of minutes before one of the teens pulled out a gun and began shooting him.
The 22-year-old tried to return fire before his car drifted down a half a block where deputies found him.
The 15-year-old was taken into custody as deputies continued searching for the 16-year-old, who was later apprehended on Monday afternoon.
Deputies are asking the community for any information that could help the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this case is eligible for a $5,000 reward by calling CrimeStoppers.
“We want to bring whoever did this to justice sooner rather than later,” Sheriff GJ said in a Facebook post.
The 15-year-old is being charged with attempted robbery and first-degree murder tampering with evidence. More information about the second suspect is expected to be released at a later time.
