2 TPD officers, suspect hospitalized after accidentally being hit by police cruiser

Two officers and a suspect in an ongoing investigation were injured on Monday after another officer hit them with his police cruiser, the Tampa Police Department said.

According to TPD, the two officers were serving an arrest warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation in the 2300 block of East Busch Boulevard.

During this time, TPD said that the suspect fled as the officers attempted to arrest him. Officers then told the suspect to get on the ground.

As the officers were on the ground taking the suspect into custody, another officer arrived at the scene.

As the officer was driving into the parking lot, he unintentionally hit both officers and the suspect, TPD said.

The two officers and the suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
