2-year-old child drowns at Margate home: Police

A 2-year-old boy has died in a drowning Tuesday at a home in Margate, authorities said.

Margate Police confirmed officers responded to a home on Northwest 79th Avenue for a child drowning.

First responders gave the child CPR and transported him to Broward Health in Coral Springs, where he was pronounced dead.

The child’s identity wasn’t released.

What led up to the drowning is unclear. Police said charges are not being filed at this time.

Footage from Chopper 6 showed yellow tape blocking off the home, which has a pool.
