A crash in St. Petersburg on Friday morning left four people hurt, including a 2-year-old who suffered serious injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
In a release, FHP officials said that the crash happened around 7:33 a.m. at the intersection of 41st Avenue North and 28th Street North.
At the time, a car — driven by a 40-year-old St. Petersburg woman — was headed west along 41st Avenue North when a truck — driven by a 34-year-old Riverview man — was traveling north along 28th Street North, the release states.
The car failed to stop at the stop sign, causing it to crash into the truck, troopers said.
Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash, as well as a 38-year-old St. Petersburg woman who was a passenger in the car, troopers added.
However, the passenger’s 2-year-old son had been “incorrectly restrained in a car seat, which shifted upon impact,” leading the child to be ejected from the vehicle, the release reads.
The boy was seriously injured as a result.
No additional information has been provided at this time, including whether any criminal charges will stem from this crash.
