21-year-old man killed in Destin crash while riding electric bike

A 21-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was killed in a traffic crash while riding an electric bike in Destin on Monday night.

Deputies say the man was traveling east in the westbound bike lanes on Highway 98 when he was struck by a vehicle changing lanes around 11:15 p.m.

First responders arrived quickly and worked to save the rider, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was reportedly wearing dark clothing when he was hit in the area of 1050 Highway 98.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
