23-year-old man dies after crashing into wooden fence, being thrown out of pickup truck: Florida Highway Patrol

A 23-year-old man was killed Tuesday night when he crashed into a wooden fence and was thrown out of a pickup truck on State Road 26 in Alachua County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The pickup truck driven by a man from Newberry was traveling west on State Road 26 (West Newberry Road) around 7:30 p.m. and suddenly veered right, causing it to cross onto the north shoulder near Northwest 170th Street.

It crashed into the curb and a power pole guide wire, then kept going northwest, spun out and crashed into a wooden fence. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck.

The pickup truck came to a stop with its wheels facing northeast on top of another wire fence.

The driver was taken to a hospital, where he died.
