A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday with an SUV in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on U.S. 441 near NW 95 Street.

According to an FHP crash report, an Ocala man was traveling north on his motorcycle on U.S. 441 when an SUV entered the lanes from a stop sign to get into the median.

The front of the motorcycle hit the SUV’s left side, causing the SUV to overturn, troopers said. The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle, the crash report stated.

The SUV driver, a 29-year-old Ocala man, and the motorcyclist were both taken to the hospital, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead, according to the FHP.

An investigation is ongoing.
