23-year-old passenger dies after car hits fence, tree on Normandy Boulevard

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday on Normandy Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said around 1:45 a.m., a man driving east on Normandy Boulevard, just west of New World Avenue, veered off the roadway to the right and struck a fence. After striking the fence, the right side of the car also hit a tree.

The driver, who’s 20 years old and from Jacksonville, suffered critical injuries, according to the FHP report.

The 23-year-old passenger from Ukraine was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP.

The report states both occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
