24-year-old mother, 1-month-old child found dead in Baker County; child suffocated, mother’s death undetermined: BCSO

A young mother and her 1-month-old child were found dead on Monday in a Macclenny home, according to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the investigation, the child and the mother, 24, were found dead in a bed together and the mother was on top of the child when investigators arrived. The child’s cause of death was suffocation, deputies said.

The cause of death for the mother is still undetermined pending toxicology results, the Sheriff’s Office said.
