25-year-old Kissimmee man killed in SR-417 crash involving construction truck

A 25-year-old Kissimmee man was killed early Friday after his car crashed into a construction vehicle on State Road 417 in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of SR-417, north of Aloma Avenue (State Road 426).

According to FHP, the man was driving a 2022 Acura ILX in the outside lane when his car drifted into an active construction zone and ran into the back of a parked construction drill truck. Troopers say the truck was parked in a lane closure in the northbound inside lane.

The Kissimmee man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was in the construction drill truck at the time.

The crash shut down all northbound lanes of SR-417 at Aloma Avenue for nearly five hours. The roadway reopened just after 5:30 a.m., and traffic has since returned to normal.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
