A 28-year-old dirt bike rider died after a crash on State Road 7 in Wellington on Wednesday night.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) crash report states that at 7:51 p.m., a car was turning westbound across southbound State Road 7 near Versailles Boulevard.

According to PBSO, at the same time, the dirt bike rider was traveling southbound in the inside lane on State Road 7 and failed to yield to the car turning, resulting in a collision.

As the dirt biker entered the car’s path, the front of the car collided with the right side of the bike. Officials stated that the impact caused the rider to be thrown onto the vehicle’s hood, windshield, and roof before falling onto the pavement.

Emergency responders transported the dirt bike rider to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to injuries sustained in the incident.
