3 dead, 1 injured in crash with stolen Florida sheriff’s office vehicle

Three people died and another was injured after a stolen Marion County Sheriff’s Office vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Thursday.

The sheriff’s office was called to a crash on East Highway 40 near the town of Astor Park.

Three people were pronounced dead at the site of the crash and another was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to Marion County deputies.

The sheriff’s office did not elaborate on how the patrol vehicle was stolen or who was driving it during the crash.

East Highway 40 between Forest Road 88 and Highway 19 is closed until further notice.
