Three people have died after a multi-vehicle crash along Burnt Store Road North near Sands Road on Monday night, Cape Coral police said.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, a truck was driving south on Burnt Store Road around 8:25 p.m. Another truck pulling a trailer was driving north, and an SUV was also heading north, directly behind the truck with the trailer.
The CCPD said that as the two trucks approached each other, the southbound truck drifted across the center line into the northbound lane and hit one of the northbound truck’s rear tires, causing damage to both trucks.
The northbound truck lost control and spun out on the road. The southbound truck then hit the SUV, which caused the SUV to roll over off the roadway. The southbound truck spun out and stopped in the middle of the road, the CCPD said.
The driver of the southbound truck and both occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound truck sustained minor injuries, the CCPD said.
Speed does not seem to be a factor in the crash, the CCPD said.
The CCPD asks anyone who witnesses or may have information about the crash to contact it at 239-574-3223 with Case No. 25-019448.
The CCPD said the crash is still under investigation.
