Three men are dead after the vehicle they were driving in lost control and overturned Thursday evening in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on Hiawassee Road near Hiawassee Meadows Drive.
FHP said three men were traveling in a 2003 Jeep Liberty along North Hiawassee Road when the vehicle lost control in the area of Hiawassee Meadows Drive and crossed the median into the path of a 2019 RAM pickup truck.
Troopers said witnesses saw the Jeep overturning as it hit the truck. The driver of the Jeep was ejected and died. Two other men in the Jeep were also pronounced dead. Further information on the identities of the three men is pending word from the medical examiner’s office, troopers said.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old Kissimmee woman, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
North Hiawassee Road was shut down in both directions as troopers investigated the wreck, but the roadway later reopened.
