Three people, one of them a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputy, were injured after a residence caught fire Saturday evening.
According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, around 7:30 p.m. responders were dispatched to the 11000 block of Richmond Street in Weeki Wachee for a house fire.
Initial reports indicated the residents were trapped inside a trailer. Prior to HCFR’s arrival, a nearby Hernando County sheriff’s deputy responded and assisted with rescuing both people from the trailer.
Deputy T. Ferro said he observed the trailer to be fully engulfed in flames and upon realizing the occupants were trapped inside, entered the burning structure.
The deputy located both individuals. One occupant, a woman who was suffering from a foot injury, required the deputy’s assistance to exit the trailer. The second occupant assisted the deputy in carrying the woman from the burning structure.
