Three people died after a pickup truck crashed into a pole and caught fire on I-275 near I-75 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the truck went off the road and hit a utility pole in the median before catching fire shortly after 3:15 a.m. Wednesday at the exit ramp from I-275 southbound to I-75 southbound.
The driver and two passengers died at the scene, troopers said. FHP is working to identify the victims.
Traffic was backed up for hours while troopers investigated at the scene.
