A 3-year-old girl died Sunday afternoon after she was hit in the driveway of a home by a pick-up truck that was backing out, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that just before 4 p.m., the 21-year-old driver of the pick-up was reversing out of the driveway of a home on NE 35th Street in Ocala when he struck the child, who was in the driveway behind the truck.
Marion County Fire Rescue responded, but the girl died from her injuries, the report said.
Troopers said the incident is still under investigation.
