Around 30 people were evacuated from an apartment complex in New Port Richey Monday after a fire broke out on the third floor.
Pasco County Fire Rescue said crews were called to Bethlehem Housing, a low-income housing complex, around 7 p.m.
Firefighters were quickly able to locate the small blaze on the third floor and put it out. However, officials said the fire activated the sprinkler system, causing water damage to the building.
Authorities said the close to 30 people who were evacuated will be placed in temporary housing with assistance from the Red Cross.
First responders expected to be on scene for an extended period of time Monday night and were asking people to avoid the area.
