Two Pensacola men were injured after a vehicle crash in Santa Rosa County on Thursday evening, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say a 56-year-old man driving a flatbed truck had a tire blowout on Interstate 10 westbound near the Avalon Blvd. exit. He then pulled to the left shoulder of the interstate.
However, as he tried to travel to the right shoulder he did not stop for oncoming traffic, troopers say. A 36-year-old man driving a sedan could not avoid the truck, crashing into it.
Troopers say the sedan driver became entrapped, suffering serious injuries. A helicopter took him to the hospital. The truck driver had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as well.
Florida Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. It caused a closure of all westbound lanes. Santa Rosa County Emergency Management says the lanes have now reopened.
