3rd victim dies after April crash cops say was caused by joyriding Hialeah teen

A third victim has died months after a Hialeah crash that already claimed the lives of two others. Police say a joyriding teenager was responsible.

Lilianna Hernandez Molina died Tuesday because of injuries sustained in the April 23 crash in the 400 block of Southeast Fifth Street.

“She was my wife. I loved her and she loved me very much,” her husband, Bob Garcia, said in Spanish.

Garcia, showing pictures of his late wife, expressed his deep sorrow.

“That pain will never leave me,” he said.

Hernandez Molina was one of three victims involved in a fatal crash in Hialeah, where she, her sister Gloria Hernandez Molina, and her daughter Yarina Garcia Hernandez were killed.

Police said Maykoll Santiesteban, 15, was speeding when he crashed into the car the women were traveling in.

“He is the one who is to blame, but it’s his parents who allowed him to be in that car with his friends,” Garcia said.

Video captured the moments after the wreck in late April, where Hialeah police said Santiesteban was driving more than 80 mph when he crashed into the victims’ vehicle.

When asked if he knew how fast he was going, Santiesteban replied, “No, I don’t remember.” He also admitted he did not have a license.

Lilianna Hernandez Molina was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, but after her fight of five months and one day, she succumbed to her injuries.

“I was by her side every day,” Garcia said. “There has to be justice.”

Santiesteban faces a number of charges that include vehicular homicide and driving without a license resulting in death.

He is now being held with no bond and is being charged as an adult.
