4 arrested in Panama City Beach bar brawl

4 arrested in Panama City Beach bar brawl

Four family members are facing charges, including battery, following a bar brawl at The Old Beach Bar last week.

According to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the altercation began just after midnight on June 10th. The bar often hosts matches for the American Poolplayers Association (APA). The bar’s owner, who declined an on-camera interview with News 13, said that fights are so rare, they don’t schedule bouncers on nights when they host APA matches.

“I have been here five years. I have never seen a fight like that in that bar,” bar regular and pool player JB said.

B, along with witnesses who provided statements to Bay County sheriff’s deputies, allege that C, G, H, and S C arrived and immediately became disruptive. The allegations of disruptive behavior include interrupting and interfering in pool matches and breaking a player’s personal pool cue.

One of the bartenders, who’s listed as a victim in the incident report, closed CC’s tab and told him and his family to leave. He alleges that C and H refused his demand and quickly became aggressive. After the bartender called 911, he claims G chased him outside and began punching him.

“None of them was, just like tapping everybody. I mean, they were just wailing,” B said.

Another victim, one of two elderly people involved in the brawl, told deputies she was sitting at the bar when “all hell broke loose.” She said she quickly found herself in the middle of the brawl.

According to the incident report, the victim suffered a black eye, a broken nose, and injuries to her upper right arm.

After reviewing security footage, authorities determined that the elderly woman’s assailant was S C, a teacher at Surfside Middle School in Panama City Beach.

In total, the four suspects face a total of five battery counts.

G and S C were also charged with felony battery on a person over 65. While being processed at the Bay County Jail, staff found methylphenidate, a Schedule 2 drug used to treat ADHD, on S C’s person. She was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and introduction of a controlled substance into a detention facility, both of which are felony charges.

C C was not processed but was instead given a notice to appear in court. He is yet to make his first appearance.

H C is defending himself in court.

S and G C are being represented by G & M Law, a Panama City-based firm. Their first arrangements are scheduled for August 4th.

“At this time, our clients, S C, a well-respected teacher, and her son, G C, have been charged in connection with an incident at a local bar. We do not yet have all of the facts and are eager to receive the full video footage of the events leading up to this incident. My law partner, BG, and I will be conducting our own thorough investigation into what actually took place that night. Our clients remain innocent unless and until proven guilty and look forward to their day in court,” MM, Esq., said in a statement sent to News 13.
