4 dead, 2 injured in crash along State Road 82 in Collier County

Four people are dead after a serious crash along State Road 82 west of Corkscrew Road in Collier County early Thursday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 12:27 a.m.

FHP said three vehicles were involved in the crash. A Kia Forte was traveling east on State Road 82 behind a Kia Sedona. A Subaru Ascent was heading in the opposite direction along the roadway.

According to the FHP report, the driver of the Kia Forte entered the westbound lane of State Road 82 trying to pass the Kia Sedona.

The Kia Forte and Subaru Ascent then collided, causing the Kia Forte to rotate and collide with the Kia Sedona.

The driver of the Kia Forte, a 30-year-old Immokalee woman, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Subaru, a 51-year-old Fort Myers woman, and a passenger, a 25-year-old Fort Myers woman, were also pronounced dead on the scene.

FHP troopers said three other passengers in the Subaru included an 85-year-old Fort Myers woman, a 51-year-old Fort Myers man, and a 25-year-old Fort Myers man. They were all taken to an area hospital with serious injuries; however, the 85-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Kia Sedona, a 41-year-old Naples man, was not injured in the crash, according to the FHP report.
