Four individuals were injured, including two who were trauma alerted from the scene, after an accident on I-75 in Marion County involving a sport utility vehicle, dump truck, and box truck.
The incident took place near mile marker 352 on northbound I-75 on Thursday, according to a statement from the Ocala Fire Rescue.
Although the details of the crash have not yet been provided, the accident involved a collision between a small dump truck that had one occupant, a compact SUV with two occupants, and a box truck with one occupant.
The box truck sustained “significant front-end damage” that trapped the driver inside. As a result, upon arrival, OFR used its portable extrication tools to gain access to the driver’s side door and free the driver.
The driver of the box truck, as well as a passenger in the SUV, were classified as trauma alerts and were immediately transported to a hospital, according to OFR.
The driver of the SUV and the driver of the small dump truck were also transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The extent of the injuries for the individuals involved in the accident was not provided by OFR.
As a result of the incident, approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled from the box truck’s saddle tank.
At the time of the incident, the northbound lanes of I-75 were temporarily blocked near exit 352.
