A fire on Thursday at a home near Ocala left four pets dead, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

Marion County and Ocala firefighters responded around 1:12 p.m. to the 4000 block of NW 48th Avenue, where a 911 caller had reported a house on fire with five pets inside, the fire department said on social media.

Firefighters arrived to see smoke pouring from a large house, quickly deploying a hose line and forcing entry through the front door in an aggressive interior attack, the post states.

The fire was called under control at 1:21 p.m., according to the post. Following primary and secondary searches of the time, three dogs and a cat had been found dead, the post states.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported, the fire department said, adding the cause and origin of the time were still under investigation at the time of this report.
