A 4-year-old child was flown to the hospital with a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to the Okeechobee City Police Department, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office and Okeechobee Fire Rescue responded to Southeast 8th Street after receiving reports of a child suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
When law enforcement arrived, the child was found in critical condition and was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
