A 40-year-old woman died in a Marion County crash that occurred just after noon on Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The woman was driving her vehicle northbound on NE 36th Avenue Road when she stopped at a stop sign at an intersection, FHP said.
According to troopers, a second driver, traveling behind the woman in the first vehicle, failed to stop at the same stop sign and hit the rear of the woman’s car.
The force from the impact propelled the woman’s car across the intersection, and it then overturned and came to a rest in the middle of the intersection, FHP said.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
According to FHP, the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were in their 60s and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
