5 Injured, Child Transported by Helicopter after Charlotte County Boat Crash

 Emergency crews responded to a serious boating accident Saturday night after a vessel reportedly struck a concrete piling near Laishley Park in Punta Gorda, according to Charlotte County Public Safety and EMS.

The call came in around 9:10 p.m. Authorities say five people were injured in the crash.

Two victims, including one child and one adult, were airlifted as trauma alerts.

Charlotte County Marine 2 and four rescue crews responded by water. Charlotte County Fire, Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC), and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
