5 people extricated from mangled vehicles, hospitalized after Escambia County crash.

Five people were sent to the hospital Monday night after two vehicles crashed at a Chemstrand Road intersection.

Escambia County Fire Rescue had to extricate multiple people from both vehicles around 8 p.m. after they collided at the intersection of Chemstrand Road and Crooked Oak Drive, sending one of the vehicles into a ravine.

“Within 10 minutes of company arrival, two passengers were extricated from the red vehicle, while an additional 20 minutes was required to extricate the passengers from the vehicle in the ravine,” an ECFR Facebook post says.

ECFR also said the battalion chief’s wagon winch was used to prevent the vehicle in the ravine from sliding further away from the road.

The health status of the hospitalized people was not disclosed, and Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
