51-year-old man shot, robbed in Leesburg

A man is recovering in the hospital after police say he was shot in the torso and robbed on Sunday night in Leesburg.

It happened at 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Truitt Street, the Leesburg Police Department said.

Officers found the victim had been shot in the upper body and then robbed.

The suspect fled on foot, police said.

Officers provided first aid to the 51-year-old victim, who was transported to the hospital and remains stable.

Detectives have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Henry Demetria Darity.

An active arrest warrant is being issued for attempted homicide, armed robbery and armed trespassing, police said.
