A 53-year-old man was killed after he reportedly veered off the road in a pickup truck, hit a tree and crashed into a utility pole in Golden Gate Estates Tuesday afternoon.
At around 2:35 p.m., troopers responded to the scene on Golden Gate Boulevard W, east of Everglades Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is a roadblock on Golden Gate Boulevard due to the utility pole and power line damage. Some homes in the area of the crash are reportedly without power at this time.
FPL is on scene investigating along with FHP.
