54-year-old struck, killed after walking in Columbia County roadway, Florida Highway Patrol says

 A 54-year-old man from Lake City died on Monday after he walked into a roadway and was hit by an SUV in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

FHP said the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when the SUV was traveling west on County Road 240, hitting the 54-year-old who was walking “in the roadway in a westerly direction in the westbound lane.”

The man died at the scene.
