59-year-old Hudson woman dies after driver rams into her on US 19, officials say

A 59-year-old Hudson woman has died after state troopers said an SUV struck her as she was trying to cross a highway.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver was traveling northbound on US 19 in a larger-style SUV.

The woman was attempting to cross the highway just south of Country Club Drive when the driver rammed into her and kept going without stopping or “rendering aid,” the agency said.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

Anyone with more information on the crash is asked to call FHP or Crime Stoppers.
