ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 60-year-old Pensacola man is critically injured after a crash with an Escambia County deputy vehicle Thursday night.
It happened around 8:50 p.m. on Highway 29 at W Hope Drive.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the 60-year-old man was traveling north in a sedan in the left turn lane on Highway 29, negotiating a left turn onto W Hope Dr.
Meanwhile, a marked Escambia County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was traveling south in the inside lane on Highway 29, approaching W Hope Dr.
FHP says the 60-year-old man failed to yield to oncoming traffic when making a left turn, colliding with the oncoming deputy. The front of the deputy vehicle hit the right side of the sedan.
The 60-year-old man was critically injured, while his passenger — a 59-year-old Pensacola man — suffered serious injuries.
The deputy — a 36-year-old Pensacola man — was not injured.
