63-year-old man hit, killed in Nokomis crash

A Friday night crash left one pedestrian dead after being hit while attempting to cross traffic.

Florida Highway Patrol says a 63-year-old man was running alongside the westbound lane of Pinto Circle towards the intersection of Mission Boulevard and was hit by a truck.

The truck was driving South on Mission Valley Road, approaching the intersection around 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the crash is under investigation.
