64-year-old motorcyclist killed in Port Charlotte crash


A 64-year-old man is dead after a van reportedly blew through a stop sign and crashed into a motorcycle in Port Charlotte Monday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a van was headed south on Torrington Street toward the intersection of Veterans Boulevard. A motorcycle was traveling west on Veterans Blvd, approaching the same intersection.

At around 2:20 p.m., the van ran a stop sign and crashed into the side of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was critically injured and taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
