65-year-old bicyclist killed in Tampa crash

A 65-year-old man is dead following a crash involving a bicycle in the Tampa area, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said Monday.

Around 7:26 a.m., HCSO received a call saying a driver hit a bicyclist at the intersection of Bearss Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Deputies found the 65-year-old man on the ground. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver told deputies the light was green and she did not see the man crossing the street on the bicycle.

The investigation is ongoing.
