A 66-year-old man died after being hit by a semitrailer in DeSoto County on Sunday evening, after troopers say the sport utility vehicle turned into the truck’s path.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the SUV was heading east on County Road 760A around 7:30 p.m. when the driver turned left at state Road 31 and into the path of a semitrailer.
The truck’s front struck the side of the SUV, which spun off the road into a grassy ditch. The SUV driver, from Arcadia, was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
The semi’s driver, a 68-year-old man from Clermont, was not injured in the crash.
