A 67-year-old motorcyclist from Marco Island died following a crash on State Road 951 Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 951 and East Elkcam Circle. The motorcyclist was riding a 2022 Harley-Davidson and was not wearing a helmet, troopers said.
According to FHP, the motorcyclist was traveling north on State Road 951 in the left turn lane, approaching East Elkcam Circle. A 33-year-old Naples man was driving a 2019 Toyota Tacoma south on State Road 951 in the inside lane.
The motorcyclist attempted to turn left onto East Elkcam Circle in front of the approaching Tacoma. The front of the Tacoma collided with the right side of the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Tacoma was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
