A man was found shot to death Wednesday inside his home in the Deercreek area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple sources told News4JAX that this was a case of a son who shot and killed his father, and around 8:45 p.m., JSO identified the suspect in the case as G C B Jr., 27, and the victim as G C B Sr., 69.

According to JSO, officers were called to a home on Fawn Lake Drive South after 8 a.m. Wednesday, in response to a person who had been shot.

When police arrived, they found a man in his 60s shot to death inside the home. JSO said the man had multiple gunshot wounds.

A man in his late 20s or early 30s was detained and is being questioned by detectives, according to JSO.

News4JAX asked JSO Homicide Unit Detective Ray Reeves if the man who was shot was related to the man who was detained. Reeves said, “They knew each other,” but couldn’t comment on the exact relationship between them.

This case was classified as pending as detectives waited on the autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and there are no threats to the community.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, by email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org, or via CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS.

Bartlett Jr. will be facing a second-degree murder charge. He is set to make his first appearance in court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
