A 69-year-old woman is dead following a crash where a car ended up in a canal, according to a report released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

According to PBSO’s crash report, the crash occurred at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The report says, the woman, identified as Joanne Romano, was a passenger in a 2014 Honda Crosstour that was being driven by a 59-year-old woman.

The report says the Honda was heading south on Boca Falls Drive and preparing to make a left turn on Palmetto Park Road. Meanwhile, a 2012 Volkswagen Passat carrying two 18-year-olds was heading east on Palmetto Park Road.

The driver of the Honda failed to yield the right of way to the Volkswagen causing the car to enter its path, the report says. The front right of the Volkswagen collided with the rear left of the Honda, causing the Honda to run off the roadway, onto a grassy shoulder and into a large body of water.
