Lanes were blocked on Interstate 75 on Friday evening after emergency officials said 20 vehicles were involved in one of multiple wrecks in Ocala.
I-75 southbound was closed south of exit 358, near US 27, in the Ocala area due to multiple crashes.
Ocala Fire Rescue crews said the first call came in at 2:34 p.m., reporting crashes on the interstate following inclement weather.
Due to the proximity of the crash sites, responding units divided to secure the scenes and provide immediate medical attention to those involved. Additional crashes occurred as crews were en route.
One of the crashes involved a pileup of 20 vehicles just north of the US 27 Exit.
Seven patients were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
All lanes have since been reopened.
