7 thrown overboard after boat crashes into 7 Mile Bridge

Seven people were thrown overboard after a boat crashed into the 7 Mile Bridge over the weekend, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News on Monday.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the 17-foot Mako was being operated by a female minor Saturday at the time of the crash in the Florida Keys.

FWC officials said the seven people who fell from the boat also included the boat operator.

Some of the victims were airlifted to a hospital in Miami.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.

No other details were immediately released.
