7-year-old dead after crash on Gazelle Drive

A 7-year-old girl has died after a collision on Gazelle Drive in North Fort Myers.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 69-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on Gazelle Drive Thursday afternoon.

The child was on a side road, located on the north side of Gazelle Drive, and entered the direct path of the approaching Chevrolet.

The front left of the Chevrolet collided with the child.

The child sustained critical injuries, was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
