71-year-old seriously injures woman after backing into her at Publix in Dunedin

A vehicle vs pedestrian crash at a Publix in Dunedin is being investigated, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies assigned to the major accident investigation team responded to the Publix at 1491 Main Street in Dunedin around 3:00 p.m. Sunday in regards to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash.

According to PCSO, 71-year-old MC was driving through the Publix parking lot when she put her Volkswagon Tiguan in reverse to allow a vehicle to exit a lane.

As she was backing up, she hit 83-year-old CS, who was pushing a shopping cart through the crosswalk.

S fell to the ground and hit her head on the pavement, according to deputies.

S was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
